He is survived by his children Todd and Nancy Bullock of Calgary, Alberta and Shannon Bullock. His grandchildren Camden and Seth. As well as, Dell, Bob, Lois, Bill and Ron Bullock. Arthur was predeceased by Raymond and Julia Bullock.
Arthur Bullock was born on October 18, 1940, in Lethbridge, Alberta, to Ray and Julia Bullock of Welling. He grew up in southern Alberta alongside his four brothers—Dell, Bob, Bill, and Ron—and his sister Lois (Bond), forming lifelong friendships in the close-knit community.
At 19, Art served a mission in France and Belgium—an experience he cherished deeply. Upon returning, he attended Brigham Young University, where he met Joyce Wallin of Renton, Washington. They married on November 25, 1965, in the Cardston Alberta Temple. Their son, Todd, was born in 1966 while Art was earning his master’s degree in sociology at the University of Calgary.
Art began his career as a sociology professor at the University of Prince Edward Island, where the family spent three years exploring the East Coast. He later returned during summers as a visiting professor, turning the cross-country drive into an opportunity to trace the Mormon Trail.
In 1971, Art accepted a position at Medicine Hat College, where he spent the rest of his career. Their daughter, Shannon, was born in 1973. His time at the college included professional development at the University of Alberta and a five-week teaching opportunity in Thailand.
Art developed a strong interest in criminal justice, serving over 35 years on the Board of Directors of the John Howard Society, including multiple terms as President of the Alberta branch and service on the national board.
A lifelong traveler, Art explored Canada from coast to coast, including the Yukon and Alaska, and traveled extensively through the U.S., including enjoying quad trips with his brothers. He also ventured overseas to Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
A dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Art served in two bishoprics, on the High Council in Medicine Hat, and participated in the stake’s Moroni’s Quest reenactment. In Magrath, he served as a High Priest Group Leader, Executive Secretary, Temple Worker and at the LDS campground.
After retiring in 2004, Art and Joyce moved to Magrath, where he enjoyed being near his brothers and part of a warm community. He served as President of the Magrath Seniors Organization for 15 years.
Art and Joyce shared nearly 60 years of devoted marriage. He was immensely proud of Todd and Shannon and the lives they built. Art embraced life with curiosity, kindness, and a deep love for learning, family, and service. His legacy of compassion and dedication inspires all who knew him.
