Anthony 'Tony' Fiedler

Anthony “Tony” Fiedler of Lethbridge, AB passed away peacefully, with family by his side on December 11, 2021 at Extendicare Fairmont Park.

Tony was born on August 25, 1935 to Gus and Tina Fiedler in Speedwell, SK. He was raised on the family farm until 1942 when the family moved to Coaldale, AB for a couple of years, then onto Vancouver, BC. While there, Tony joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1952 where he served as a Radar Technician stationed at various locations around the world. It was while stationed in Trenton, ON he met and married his wife of 55 years, Maxine.

Upon leaving the RCAF in 1972, Tony and Maxine moved to Coaldale, AB for a year then settled into Lethbridge where they bought their first and only home. From 1972 Tony worked as a bus driver for Lethbridge Transit until leaving in 1980 to Marconi Canada commuting back and forth to Edmonton and Calgary until 1983. From there, he moved onto the Lethbridge School Board to work as a Custodian at LCI High School until retiring in 1996. After retiring he kept busy managing an apartment building and volunteering at the Red Cross.

 Tony loved the outdoors whether it was spending time at their cabin at Grave Lake in BC, camping, fishing, gardening or walking the dog in Pavan Park. He could often be found doing a crossword puzzle or reading a book while indoors.

 He was predeceased by his parents Gus and Tina and by his loving wife Maxine in 2012.

 Tony is survived by his daughters Laurie (John) Janzen and Nadine (Tim) Helmer; his siblings, Dan (Sheila)  Fiedler, Anne Portelli, Carol (Percy) Motherwell, Rose (Nick) Janzen, Betty (Ken) Odland, Kathi (Ron) Pollard; his grandchildren Erin (Joel) Duda and Kyle Helmer; one great-grandchild Harper Duda, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

 For those who wish to attend, a gathering of family and friends will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday December 20, 2021 at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703 13th Street North, Lethbridge. Cremation to follow.

The family extends a special thank you to all the staff at Extendicare Fairmont Park for their attention and kindness given to Tony during his residence there.
