Annette Joyce Thompson

1936 - 2021

    ANNETTE JOYCE THOMPSON (nee Jenks), beloved wife of H. Floyd Thompson, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the Chinook Regional Hospital, at the age of 85 years.

    Annette was born in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba and spent her formative years living on a small ranch along the west shore of Lake Manitoba. Her first few years her education was attained at a convent at Cayer, a nearby village.

    In 1947, the family sold everything and moved to Brandon to be close to a medical centre as her dad had severe ulcers.

    In 1959, Annette married Les Johnston from Justice, Manitoba, a nearby town. They moved to Snow Lake, Manitoba for work and a daughter, Angela (Aizlynn) was born. Glenn, their first son, was born two years later in Brandon. Later, they moved to Surrey, B.C. where second son Justin (Allan) was born.

    After 20 years of marriage Annette and Les divorced and Annette moved back to Brandon. Two years later, Annette and her youngest son moved to Lethbridge, Alberta where she lived until her passing.

    In 1989 she married Floyd Thompson. Annette worked in the laundry at Extendicare Nursing Home for 15 years. Annette and Floyd travelled extensively whenever possible to Australia, Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, England and South Korea and even more in Canada and the U.S.A.

    In 2011 Annette was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and fought it successfully for almost ten years.

    Annette was predeceased by her dad and mom, Bob and Louise Jenks, a brother Ivor and sister Merine and their spouses, her ex-husband Les, a son Glenn and many of her one hundred first cousins.

    Anette was a very loving and generous person helping out family members whenever possible.

    Friends and Family are invited to attend a viewing and informal program on Friday, June 18, 2021, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home, 703 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge.

    A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Royal View Memorial Cemetery, 5920 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge.
