Anne Sponholz

ANNE SPONHOLZ (SEITZ), beloved wife of the late Earl Carl Sponholz of Fort Macleod and Lethbridge, passed away at Fairmont Extendicare on July 26, 2014 at the age of 93 years.

She is also the loving mother of Rose Marie (Jim) Halverson of Lumby, B.C., Dennis (Fran French) of Vernon, B.C., Judy (Rae Edmondson) of Edmonton, Susan (Garth) Walberg of Vernon, B.C., Patricia (Tom Nosal) of Nobleford, Edward (Caroline Hartse) of Tacoma, WA, Bruce of Lethbridge and Alison Boneham of Wetaskiwin; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Viola Ashley, her brother Jack Seitz and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anne was predeceased by her parents George and Madeline Seitz, husband Earl, daughter Shirley Anne, granddaughter Carey Anne and seven brothers and three sisters.

Anne was born on November 21, 1921 in Little Plume, AB, the seventh of 13 children. She spent her early years on the farm, later moving to Medicine Hat. Anne was married to Earl Sponholz on April 12, 1941. They lived in Medicine Hat, Carmangay, the Crowsnest Pass and Fernie, B.C., before settling in Fort Macleod where she devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her home. Following Earl's passing in 1986, Anne continued to live in Fort Macleod until 2006 when she moved to Lethbridge. Her last five years were in Assisted Living at the Fairmont Extendicare.

Anne will be lovingly missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered for her gentle, caring nature and her wonderful sense of humour. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Fairmont Extendicare for their compassion, loving care and genuine affection for our mother.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
