I was so sorry to hear of Wes' passing. Words are never adequate in moments like these. I will say though, that my heart goes out to you. It is never easy to lose a parent, no matter your age. I will always remember Wes fondly - he had a personality that filled the room - and I have wonderful memories of many times spent with the Bascom family. Wes leaves behind a wonderful family and I know you will all be a great source of comfort and support to one another.

My love to you all.

Another one of the CFB family is having a great reunion on the other side. I am sure my dad Dan H. Lybbert will be part of that along with lots of other cousins. I didn't get to know him well but I know I have met him several time as he stopped in Glenwood, at a few reunions and several other places. I know that he is part of a great heritage.

Very sad to learn of the death of my cousin Wes. I first remember meeting him at our house in California in 1947/48. I was 4 or 5 years old, but I still have the early memory of meeting my "Big Cowboy" cousins. He was the real thing and brought me joy and pride. Wes went on to marry his dear wife Shirley, and and to raise a fone family. He will always be remembered as an honest, hard working enjoyable man. His legacy will live forever thru his wonderful family. God rest his soul, and God bless Shirley and his children. Let's celebrate his life well lived.

Wes was my first principal when I started my teaching career at New Brigden. He was a wonderful inspiration for me as a teacher. Wes and Shirley truly cared about the children they taught. Wes was so knowledgeable about a lot of things and his life experiences and stories were a joy to listen to. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear about Wes. He was a great man! We learned to love him while you lived in Mt. View. Our hearts go out to you and your family, Shirley! Our love and prayers are with you at this time.

We were very saddened to learn of Wes's passing recently. He was a great lifelong friend and cousin. He was greatly admired for his story telling ability. We have read his book many times and will read it again. A bright light has gone out for us and we can only hope that we will see him again soon. We loved our "Smitty's" meetings with Wes and Shirley, Hugh and Geri, Hazel and Jack, Alan and Mary and more. They were choice times in our lives. We send our sympathy to all of his family and have every hope that they realize what a treasure they have in knowing that Wes loved and appreciated them ..(.We now live in Red Deer, Alberta.)
