STONE, Roger Hardy

October 25, 1939 – November 10, 2019

 

Roger Hardy Stone passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan’s Prairie Ridge in Raymond, AB on Sunday, November 10, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 80 years old.

Roger will be missed by many, including his beloved wife of 57 years Mavis. Also grieving the loss of their father and grandfather are daughter Lana Stone and her children Jezzamyn Stone and Brielle Stone-Dumonceaux (Brett Castaldo) and grandson Caison; son Alan Stone (Glenda) and his children Krysta (Kendall) Kleiboer, 3 grandchildren Nixon, Noah and Nash, plus daughters Karina (Jesse) McClyment and Kaylene Stone.

He will also be missed by his siblings; Kay (Del-deceased) Standage of Arizona, Maureen (Sherrel) Williams of Cardston and Jack (Janice) of Raymond. Brother-in-law Vede (Karen) Gilchrist of Salt Lake City, sister-in-law Mardonne (Richard) Neiman of Edmonton and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents, plus sister Margaret Gilchrist and brother Lynn.

Born in Lethbridge, AB to Ken and Mary Stone, Roger is the 4th child born in a family of 6 children.  Roger dedicated 40 years of his adult life to the hardware store business, where he made many wonderful friends.  Proud of his hometown Raymond, he diligently served with the volunteer fireman and EMT for 30 years. Roger had a passion for all sports, esp. hunting, fishing and golf. He excelled at everything he did especially being an excellent gardener and cook (he grew superb tomatoes and made delicious cabbage rolls), giving generously to his family and friends. He will be remembered with love by many.

A private service was held at Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov.14, 2019 with interment at Temple Hill Cemetery in Raymond, AB.
