George Edward Taylor

With heavy heart we announce that George Edward Taylor of Magrath, Alberta passed away February 20, 2019 peacefully at the age of 82 years surrounded by his children and family. George’s devotion to his family derives from an unconditional love he mastered and demonstrated without question or judgement. He is a leading example of what Love truly means and he inspired his influence of Family values throughout his entire lifetime.

George was born in Lacombe, Alberta and was raised there and in Red Deer, Alberta. He accomplished his career goals receiving his degree and serving a lifetime achievement of 30+ years as an educator and teacher throughout school districts within Alberta. George fulfilled leadership roles as principal and a board member of the Alberta Teachers Association.

George was most known for his ability to Love and Serve others. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was 19 years old and served proudly in the church while living the life of a man who truly loved the gospel and his Savior, Jesus Christ. George and Joan were blessed to serve 3 church missions [Nebraska, Pennsylvania, South Carolina]  where they embraced their opportunity to share the gospel and serve those in need.

George loved music and played the organ, piano and he played the saxophone in a Big Band in his younger years. His love of trades work was diverse including carpentry, construction and woodworking. He served Scouts Canada as a boy scout leader for many years and participated in national Jamborees. He contributed to the school sports programs and ran the school concessions for many years keeping our family well supplied in Popcorn.

George is survived by his beautiful wife Joan of 60 years and his eight loving children, Zackary, Brent [Janice], Wendy [Clarence], Kevin [Carol], Richard [Claudelle], Jenee [Dean], Kaylene, David [Jennifer]. His legacy extends proudly to the love of his 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his family, parents Harry and Bertha Taylor and sisters Jean [Robert] and Marie [George].

Funeral services will be held at the Magrath Stake Centre, 21 E 1St Ave S on March 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM [Viewing at 10:00] Family and Friends are invited to the viewing. Interment will follow in the Magrath Cemetery. No donations are requested.
